Recharge pricing: the $99 plan is the small part of the bill
Recharge has two published tiers and a custom one. Starter is $99 a month with processing at 1.49% plus 19 cents per transaction. Plus is $499 a month with processing at 1.34% plus 19 cents. Custom is volume-based.
The plan fee is not where the money goes. The transaction fee is. Run the numbers on a store doing $20,000 a month in subscription revenue across 500 orders: on Starter that is $99 plus $298 in percentage fees plus $95 in per-order fees, about $492 a month. On Plus it is $499 plus $268 plus $95, about $862. Plus only starts to pay back on the lower percentage once subscription revenue is well into six figures a month.
One more line: Concierge SMS, which lets subscribers skip or delay by text, is $0.03 per message segment in the US and Canada and $0.06 internationally on top of the plan.
