Dext

Dext runs a free trial on both of its price lists, and they are genuinely different products. Which one you see depends on whether you say you are a business or an accounting practice.

For a business, Dext starts at $25.21 a month excluding VAT, or $302.50 billed annually, which covers 250 documents a month and 5 users. There is a slider to raise the allowance, and annual billing is up to 20% cheaper. The trial needs no credit card.

For an accounting or bookkeeping practice, pricing is per client with a 10-client minimum. Essentials is from $17.70 per client a month, billed monthly on an annual subscription, which comes to $353.99. Advanced is from $19.20 per client, or $383.99. That trial runs 14 days.

The add-ons are where a Dext bill grows, and they are priced per client or per document. On the practice plans, custom AI guidance is $7 per client and the data health and insights module is $7.50 per client a month. On the business plans, connecting up to 5 e-commerce platforms starts at $7.50 a month, extra storage beyond a free 100 MB starts at $4 a month, and line item extraction is from $20.50 a month or $0.50 a document as you go.

The number to work out before the trial ends is documents per month, not price. The base business plan covers 250. If you process more, the slider moves and so does the bill, and that is the figure that decides whether Dext is cheaper than doing it by hand.
